Traversing geographies, cultures and mediums, the upcoming exhibition MOTHER presents diverse stories drawn from across the NGV Collection and includes a monoprint by Julie Dowling. The exhibition brings together more than 200 works from the National Gallery of Victoria Collection and opens in March.

An survey exhibition of Helen Maudsley’s work is currently on at Town Hall Gallery. Entitled The wonderful diversion: Helen Maudsley works from the Town Hall Gallery Collection, the exhibition provides a unique opportunity to engage with the diverse and evocative practice of Helen Maudsley, showcasing works from over six decades of the artist’s career and demonstrating Town Hall Gallery Collection’s commitment to acquiring works by significant Australian artists who have lived and created in the area.

Behind the Glass is curated by James Lynch and Emma Nixon and features work by Angela Brennan alongside Davida Allen, Yvonne Audette, Kate Beynon, Virginia Cuppaidge, Janet Dawson, Lesley Dumbrell, Rosalie Gascoigne, Melinda Harper, Emily Kame Kngwarreye, Hillary Mais, Mandy Martin, Erica McGilchrist, Margaret Preston, Angelina Pwerle, Vivienne Shark le Witt, Aida Tomescu, Michelle Ussher and Jenny Watson.

Brenda L. Croft‘s work features in Women Photographers 1853-2018 at the National Gallery of Australia. The exhibition, which is a Know My Name initiative, highlights the transformative impact of women artists on the history of photography.
In addition, Brenda L. Croft has been selected as a Power Institute Paris Art Residency Fellow at the Cité Internationale for 2026. The fellowship will enable Brenda to build on prior work undertaken in Paris and France to research French and other international collections, especially at the Musée du quai Branly, and to extend her relationships and connections with other curators, artists, and other colleagues in the cultural sector. Key to Brenda’s residency will be her positionality as a creative-led researcher – visual artist, curator, educator, researcher/scholar – building on her work’s inclusion in ON COUNTRY: Photography from Australia in Les Rencontres de la Photographie, Arles, France (2025); and recent selection for the 9th Triennale of Photography, Hamburg, Germany, 2026.
