Martin Parr: ARTIST SPOTLIGHT

Martin Parr has been given the Festival La Gacilly-Baden Photo’s Life Time Achievement Award. An open air retrospective of 45 Parr images are currently being displayed at the Kaiserhaus-Garten in honour of this award. A number of solo exhibitions of Parr’s work are being held currently including Tynwald Week – Photos by Martin Parr and his work is showing in Communion, London’s Bold Tendencies’ 2024 program.

Dale Hickey: RMIT Gallery

Dale Hickey‘s work appears alongside Steven Rendall‘s in the current exhibition Working Title: Studio Practice in the RMIT Art Collection at RMIT Gallery. Congratulations Travis MacDonald on being shortlisted, alongside Ebony Truscott, Euan Heng & Steven Rendall for the 2024 Geelong Contemporary Art Prize. Sangeeta Sandrasegar: ARTIST SPOTLIGHT

Sangeeta Sandrasegar‘s newly commissioned work Yellow deep that drew your eyes is currently showing at RACV ArtHouse, located on site at RACV Goldfields Resort. Sandrasegar’s latest work utilises botanical materials from the Creswick region, reflecting region’s history.

Sangeeta Sandrasegar is currently undertaking a residency at DESA in Indonesia and has been awarded the 2024 visual residency at Monash University Prato Centre in Italy.

Noel McKenna: ARTIST SPOTLIGHT

Noel McKenna is the winner of The Darling Portrait Prize and a finalist in the Sir John Sulman Prize and The Wynne Prize. His painting William Nuttall with horses in field is now showing in The Darling Portrait Prize exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery, Canberra and his paintings Nun at piano, Brisbane 1966 and Cape Pillar, Tasman Sea, are showing in the Archibald, Wynne and Sulman Prizes 2024 at the Art Gallery of New South Wales.

Helen Wright: Heide Museum of Modern Art

Curated by Melissa Keys, Hair Pieces at Heide Musem of Modern Art explores the complex significance of hair in contemporary culture through work by international and Australian Artists. Helen Wright‘s work features alongside Polly Borland (US), Jim Dine (US), Lou Hubbard (AUS), Patricia Piccinini (AUS), Christian Thompson (AUS), Ai Yamaguchi (JPN) and Louise Weaver (AUS) and more.

Euan Heng: ARTIST SPOTLIGHT

Euan Heng has been shortlisted for the 2024 Geelong Contemporary Art Prize. The official recipient announcement will be made on Friday 9 August. and an exhibition of the finalists’ works will open at Geelong Gallery on Saturday, 10 August.

In addition, Euan Heng’s work is currently showing in the group exhibition The End of History at Lawrence Wilson Gallery, University of Western Australia. The End of History explores artists’ relationship to history, as it’s made. At its centre is a group of works from the University of Western Australia Art Collection made between 1985 and 1995, united by mood and motif.
