Brenda L. Croft‘s 2024 series Naabámi (thou shall/will see): Barangaroo (army of me) will be shown in On Country: Photography from Australia at the prestigious festival Les Rencontres de la Photographie in Arles, France in July. This major exhibition is curated by PHOTO Australia’s Pippa Milne and Brendan McCleary and highlights the work of twenty Australian artists.
Croft’s important series Naabámi (thou shall/will see): Barangaroo (army of me) features portraits derived from tintypes, then printed large-scale of contemporary Australian First Nations women and girls, honouring Barangaroo, the Cammeraygal woman known for her staunch position as an unceded sovereign First Nations woman during first settler-colonial contact.
