Rick Amor: An Online Catalogue Raisonné of the Prints by Irena Zdanowicz

Niagara Galleries is delighted to host the Melbourne launch of Rick Amor: An Online Catalogue Raisonné of the Prints - the first online catalogue of a printmaker's work to be produced in Australia, and one of only a very few such pioneering catalogues to have been produced anywhere in the world. This extensive online archive is the work of noted print scholar Irena Zdanowicz, and is the result of nine years' rigorous research.

One of Australia's most prominent painters, Rick Amor is also known for his masterly printmaking practice. Phase one of the online catalogue of Amor's prints is complete and focuses on what, both for the artist and for the compiler of the catalogue, are the most complex of the prints - the intaglios, which include etchings, drypoints and mezzotints. To date encompassing 177 works and documenting over 900 states, the catalogue aims to organize Amor's prints, and the many processes involved in their making, in a way that is clear and accessible in a digital format.

The Melbourne launch of this extraordinary resource will take place at Niagara Galleries, 245 Punt Rd Richmond, on Tuesday 19 September 2017 from 6pm, with opening remarks to be given by Madeleine Say, Pictures Collection Manager, State Library of Victoria.
