Noel McKenna, Public swimming pools of Australia, 2012, acrylic on canvas, 150 x 180cm

Noel McKenna: Landscape - Mapped - QAGOMA

Niagara artist, Noel McKenna will be exhibiting at the Queensland Art Gallery & Gallery of Modern Art in November with the culmination of a fifteen-year project 'mapping' Australia.

Noel McKenna: Landscape - Mapped is an insightful commentary on the redundancy of physical maps in an era of GPS and Google Earth. These large-scale works reflect who we are as a nation by locating our public swimming pools, dangerous animals and butterflies, acting as an inventory of our contents.

The exhibition will be accompanied by an illustrated catalogue and a free public event, the artist in conversation with publication contributor, Graeme Simsion. For details, visit QAGOMA's website.

Exhibition runs from 18 November 2017 - 2 April 2018
